About us

An association of young filmmakers and activists from Zagreb. We believe film is the best laboratory for social change.

Mission

We empower young people aged 14 to 30 to think critically about society through film and media, to connect with activists and civil-society organisations, and to tackle global challenges by acting in their own communities.

Vision

A generation of young filmmakers in Croatia and beyond who use film as a tool for solidarity, human rights and sustainable development, not just entertainment.

Values

Solidarity, volunteering, human rights, equality, sustainable development and European values.

Our story

Our founders have worked for years within the International Youth Media Summit (IYMS), a network that has brought together young filmmakers and activists from around the world since 2006. Antonio Britvar has chaired its Youth Committee since 2016, Rebeka Čuljak has been active since 2019 and Anamarija Benčić since 2023. In the pandemic years 2020 and 2021 the team organised two virtual Summits together with the Croatian Film Association.

In July 2025 that team, with Kinoklub Karlovac as host, brought the 20th Summit to Croatia: 42 delegates from 12 countries shot seven short films in Karlovac, and on 28 July 2025 the first Seven Issues Film Festival took place at Edison Cinema.

To give those programmes a permanent home in Croatia, on 20 July 2026 we founded the association Kreativni labos audiovizualne produkcije i aktivizma (Creative Lab of Audiovisual Production and Activism) – KLAPA – in Zagreb. On 20 August 2026 it was entered in the Croatian Register of Associations, acquiring legal personality.

We work with young people aged 14 to 30: filmmakers, multimedia artists, activists, pupils and students, and with everyone who wants to watch, debate and act.
